To change domain mode of the target domain

1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Domains and Trusts.
2. In the console tree, right-click the name of the domain you want to administer, and then click Properties.
3. On the General tab, click Change Mode, and then click Yes.

Caution

• Do not change domain mode if you have or will have any Windows NT 4.0 domain controllers in this domain. You can only change the mode from mixed mode to native mode. Once a domain is running in native mode, it cannot be changed back to mixed mode.

Note

• You must be connected to the domain you want to administer and logged on as an administrator or a member of the Domain Administrators group of the target domain in order to complete this procedure.
